Serabend Rug
Dating to around 1900, this rare piece is a genuine Serabend rug from Western Persia, a group characterised by small repeating botehs. This piece has a soft terracotta field with the ubiquitous offset rows of botehs, and is framed by a classic ivory meandering vine and boteh border. This is the prototype for many other rugs copied around Persia and other weaving centres. Nice soft velvety wool. Good pile with only a few old minor restorations. Professionally cleaned.
