Sauj Bulagh Rug
The wool quality and weave suggest this rug was produced the Sauj Bulagh Kurds. The design of repeating shrubs is also associated with this group. However, the format is quite unusual, and has resulted in a very attractive and decorative short runner with a narrow width. The colours are subtle and harmonious. I particularly like the combination of blue and gold. Note also the appearance of a lovely aubergine which suggests a production date no later than around 1870. Generally good condition. One small repair to a corner. Professionally cleaned.
