Fine Melayir Rug
This is a very pretty Persian village wool rug from the early 20th century. The wool quality is soft and supple with a fine weave and a low clipped pile. The conical arrangement of the botehs on the ivory field is quite eyecatching, while the sapphire blue spandrels with colourful blossoms and stars is so charming and playful. Note also the jagged 'lightning' style outlines to the field which is reminiscent of the famous designs of the nearby town of Maslaghan. This rare piece has been cared for through the generations and has survived in very good condition. We have given it a professional cleaning and now it has a very soft texture. original ends and sides. A highly decorative rug which could transform your setting.
