Cute Tekke Wedding Rug
The Tekke were one of the largest nomadic tribes migrating in Central Asia, mainly in North-East Persia and Afghanistan. Their weavings are noted for their fine quality and deep colours usually in shades of red, terracotta and brown. Tekke Wedding Rugs have a special attraction. Woven for marriage ceremonies when the bride and groom would stand together at the moment of their betrothal, these rugs were often extremely finely woven, and cherished by the brides-to-be. Today, when they appear on the market they have many admirers. Their small square formats and subdued colours work very well in many decorative settings. This lovely piece is no exception. The mahogany field is decorated with three columns of Tekke guls and secondary ornaments in a very orderly and attractive way. The borders are equally pretty. Finely knotted and with soft velvety wool, this is a charming piece. In addition, it has even wear consistent with age to give it the elusive lived-in look. professionally cleaned and in good condition.
