Handsome Persian Village Rug
This is a very handsome Persian Village Rug. The combination of cotton warps and wool wefts are perplexing but point to the Bakhtiari tribe as the weavers. The fine weave, great wool quality and excellent dyes have been combined to create a striking rug, dominated by the two conjoined medallions in the field. However, I feel its the ivory border with rows of flowers which make the rug so appealing. This is an elegant rug with just the right balance of colours and design to fit in many decorative settings. Remarkably, it has survived in excellent condition with full even pile, and minimal signs of wear. The original ends are intact. The side cord on one side has been restored. Professionally cleaned.
