Fine Sarouk Rug
This lovely Persian rug from the early 20th century belongs to a group often referred to as 'American Sarouks' as many of them were exported to the USA. They were to made to different standards, but this one is of the finer quality which is called 'Mohajjeran'. The wool quality is delightful, soft and velvety while the knot count and quality of the weave point to a superior weaving workshop. The pile is thin and fine which allows for a clearer definition of the design elements. The design of floral clusters is very decorative and typical of the 'American Sarouk' group. Note the harmonious colours especially the pink field, light blues, golds and sapphire blue border. It is a delightful piece which has survived the generations in very good original condition. Original sides and ends intact, good even pile throughout. Professionally washed in our workshop.
