Beni Ouirain Carpet
Beni Ouirain carpets of this type are becoming increasingly rare. Woven by the Berbers in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, the soft texture and minimal designs work very well in modern settings. This piece fits the bill well. The wool is fine and fleecy, with a long pile that has survived well A hint of design is created by the thin dark brown lines, woven with undyed sheep's wool, which form a simple repeating lattice design. These carpets were often made for local domestic use in nomadic tents or riyads, and were often woven in very long and narrow formats. However the dimensions of this piece would work equally well in a UK domestic setting. Professionally cleaned. Good original condition.
